On June 5, 1971, at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio the Sensational Sigma Alpha chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered by fifteen illustrious ladies. These lovely ladies impacted the Kent State and Ravenna community by testing African Americans for Sickle Cell Disease. This was one of the many ways that these lovely ladies impacted the community. With the help of these women the Epsilon Epsilon chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated was chartered at Kent State University as well. Also, with the help of Sigma Alpha’s charter members the Psi Epsilon Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered at Bowling Green State University. The work of the Sensational Sigma Alpha chapter did not stop here. Over the years all members of the chapter strive towards the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood amongst the Kent State community and beyond.
